Fr. Malakauskas succeeds Fr. Astijus Kungys, OFM, who completes his second term as Provincial Minister after serving for nine years.
For the past three years, Fr. Malakauskas has served as Vicar Provincial of the Province as well as pastor of a parish.
Fr. Malakauskas made his solemn vows in the Franciscan Order in 2001 and was ordained to the priesthood the following year.
Also elected to leadership during the Chapter were: Fr. Andrew Nenėnas, OFM - Vicar Provincial; and Provincial Councilors: Evaldas Darulis OFM, Gediminas Numgaudis OFM, Julius Sasnauskas OFM and Andrew Dobrovolsky OFM.
The Province of St. Casimir is located primarily in Lithuania, but also have a monastery and guest house in Kennebunkport, Maine in the United States, as well as parishes in Toronto, Canada. The province is a member of the English Speaking Conference. There are 37 solemnly professed friars in the province.
